Increase Your Supporters With A New Website For Charities

White Media helps charities increase their supporters by attracting new individuals through high performing websites which are designed to convert. We understand that a charity's website needs to stand out above your competitors, especially if you want to capture leads for new supporters.

Our websites for charities are designed to capture leads and supporters, and convert leads to donors. All of our charity websites benefit from full on-page and technical SEO as standard on every page of the website.

Bespoke Websites For Charities

A high performing website is a necessity for every charity. Many charities rely upon their websites to bring in new leads, often whilst they are unable to personally take telephone calls. Most charities will win new supporters through their online visibility.

Key to any charity's online visibility is an attractive, well-designed website, which is geared towards promoting and selling their charitable activities.

Online competition for charities is high. The large numbers of charities all competing for the same supporters have driven the cost of PPC advertising on Google Ads, Bing and Facebook Ads through the roof. Therefore investing in a website for charities, designed to meet a charity's exact needs is a wise investment.

A charity's website can be positioned to be the authority for the sector you support in your local area. Targeting the local search market is one of the most effective ways to start to grow your charity and become the local 'authority' for the services you offer. A well-optimised website providing useful and helpful information for prospective patients is a strategy to win new support.

Why Should you Invest In A Website For Charities?

Firstly, your website is usually the first impression your visitors will see of your charity. To attract the supporters your charity needs, the website needs to reflect the professionalism and levels of service you provide. The visitors should also 'want' to engage with your website and so enter your support funnel.

Many websites for charities are poorly constructed and are not optimised for lead generation. This is where White Media can help charities wanting to improve their website and online presence.

First Impressions

Your charity's website will usually be the very first impression a potential supporter has of your charity. The first impression your website gives that person must therefore be the best possible. People will judge your charity by what they see. If your branding, layout, images or text are not perfect for your charity, then the chances are that the visitor will disappear as quickly as they arrived.

We aim to design your website to be world class in all aspects. At the outset of a web design project we will discuss with you what you want the website to do for your charity and make suggestions as to how these goals can be made real, whilst making an amazing first impression.

Charities Websites Must Convert

We want your new website to convert visitors into leads or supporters. A mistake charities regularly make when commissioning a new website is to fail to think about the purpose of each and every page on the website. Every page must have a primary goal and the page’s purpose must be to achieve that goal, every time.

During a website for charities design project we will create and design each web page so that it is clear to your visitors what the page is about and what they need to do to get or understand what is on offer. Clear headings, images and calls to action (CTAs) accompany the page’s copy to help the visitors to the goal of the page and convert them into supporters or donors.

Our charity web design experts will guide you through the minefield of website copy. As much as many charities like to extol the virtues of their long history, the average website visitor will not give a hoot about this. They want to be told how you support your beneficiaries and why you are the best charity for them to support.

A charity's website can be made into the 'go-to place' for professional information on all of the aspects of support you offer. Providing free and expert knowledge to your website's visitors is a proven method to offer high-quality information which builds trust with your audience. We help optimise your copy to make sure it sells the benefits your charity offers.

SEO As Standard

White Media operates very differently to many other web designers. Most web design agencies sell SEO as an additional service, which you pay handsomely for.

When building your website we try to identify profitable keywords which your competitors have overlooked and are not ranking for. Generic keyword phrases are usually too competitive to attempt to rank for. This is where we look for long-tail keywords which will lead to traffic, but with low competition.

We strongly believe that a website for charities without SEO is like a car without an engine – pointless. As a result, during a web design project we optimise each page for search as a core part of the web design project. This involves keyword research right at the start of the project to help find you the best keywords to maximise the chances of your web page being listed at the top of Google’s search results.

Ongoing we offer you additional SEO support to keep track of the website’s performance so that tweaks can be made to keep your website ranking as highly as possible for the various search terms.

Mobile-Friendly Charity Websites

The majority of websites are now viewed from a mobile device. It therefore goes without saying that we design websites for charities with a mobile-first perspective. All our charity websites are mobile-friendly and are designed to make the browsing of the website a simple and pleasurable experience for the visitor.

Our mobile-first web design goes beyond just making the website mobile-friendly. We make all telephone numbers, email addresses tappable so that a call or email can be initiated by just tapping the number or address. With our user flow methods we also adjust the page’s layout so that it is more relevant for mobile users. We do not rely upon the content’s layout flowing based upon the desktop version. A dedicated mobile layout is created for pages which benefit from content prioritisation.

The mobile-first approach benefits both your website visitors as well as you by getting the charity's website ranked well for mobile-friendliness by Google and giving your visitors clear options to click through to your support funnel.

What Our SEO Clients Are Saying About Us

I’d recommend White Media to any of my friends, and, those friends who are recovering from expensive, unsuccessful, frustrating experiences with “the experts”. Technology is an enabler, it always was; not a “confuser to enable charlatans to profit from the uneducated”.

The Design Process For Websites For Charities

Our design process for websites for charities follows a tried and tested path to ensure a successful website is created for you.

Research & Specifications

The design process for your website for charities project starts with discussing with you exactly what you want the website to do for you and how it will be laid out.

This may involve looking at other charity's websites so you get ideas of how the website should look and function. We will then map out the website’s structure to make sure the necessary pages are planned for and how the menu should be structured. Once this is done, we will ask you for the images and copy for each page we are to build. If you are unsure on the copy, you can provide a list of bullet points for each page and we will help you by writing the copy.

Once the full specification has been agreed you will know the fixed cost for your website project. This will not alter unless the specification is substantially changed.

We will always start by designing the website’s homepage. The homepage includes all the major styling elements that will be used throughout the rest of your charity's website – logo, header, footer, menus, fonts, buttons, image styles, etc.. Getting the homepage styling right makes it much easier when we get to creating the other pages of the website, so valuable time and effort is made working with you to get the homepage looking as you want it.

Throughout the web design project you will have access to the public view of the website (which will be hidden from general public view until it is ready to go live). This allows you to comment on individual elements and areas which may need tweaking. It also means that we will be able to communicate clearly about any changes required.

Other Pages

Once the design of the homepage of your website has been signed-off, we will start to build the rest of the  pages of the website. Once again, you will be able to see each page as and when additions or changes have been made.

Each page should be dedicated to a specific product, service or topic. Therefore, thought should be given to what you want your visitors to do on each and every page. Do you want them to contact you, donate, buy something or sign-up to your mailing list? The aim will be to build in calls to action (CTAs) to each page, inviting the visitor to interact and do exactly what you would like them to do. Usually we create the additional pages so they have a similar structure to each other, allowing visitors to easily find the information they are looking for.

Website Review

With all of the pages built, we go through the entire website testing that all buttons, links and functionality work as expected. We encourage you and your staff to test the website as well, so that you are confident with how your visitors will interact with the website once it is live.

Your brand-new website is presented to the world! The directory protection is removed so the website is visible across the Internet. We will submit the website to Google’s Search Console and check to ensure the website is then indexed correctly.

How Do I Know If My Charity Needs A New Website?

Not Mobile-Friendly

If your charity's website is not mobile-friendly you definitely need a new website. Google have been prioritising mobile-friendly web design over those which are not responsive, for some time now. A non mobile-friendly website will be a turn-off for your visitors and will not rank well for you. The layout of a mobile-friendly website's content will change to suit a mobile device's screen size and shape automatically.

Are you embarrassed about the state of your charity's website and its design? Does your website give your visitors a good impression of your charity? If you cannot answer yes to both questions then you need a new website. Professional websites are integral to a successful charity and will often be the first impression a potential supporter gets of your charity. Don't let your website put them off.

Low Conversion Rate

Are you finding that you are getting very few new patients coming through your charity's website? The website's traffic may be very low or your visitors are not clicking through to contact you or buy from your website. Google Analytics will give you an idea of this. It may be that your web design is poorly executed and that you need to go back to the drawing board to have a new professional website created for you.

High Bounce Rates

High bounce rates are an indicator that visitors to your charity's website are not impressed with what they are seeing. A high bounce rate means that your visitors are leaving the website without browsing to a second page. Reasons for this can vary, but usually include at least one of the following: it is not a mobile-friendly website, it loads slowly, the layout is ugly, or your website's content is unclear and confusing.
If you are not quite sure if you need a new website, get in touch with us for a FREE website review. We will let you know honestly if we think you need a new website, or if your existing one can be improved without needing to commission a new website.

Websites For Charities Pricing

White Media websites for charities are priced upon the amount of work and functionality you need. This will include:

  • The number of pages needed.
  • Whether you provide all copy and content or if you would like us to create it for you.
  • Whether you need a logo or other brand content creating.
  • If there is any special functionality needed for the website to perform specific tasks.
To get a basic estimate for the creation of a new charity website, request a free consultation with us. After a few questions we will be able to give you a reasonably accurate idea of the price you can expect to pay for the new website. If you choose to then go ahead, we will create a precise specification and quotation for you. Unless there are significant changes to the specification, the price quoted is the price the project will cost, with no hidden fees!

We Are Different From Most Other Web Design Agencies

If you have worked with other web design agencies you might have found yourself baffled by tech-speak or they want to charge you extra for basic search engine optimisation.

We at White Media like to concentrate on you, the client, rather than trying to make web design sound like a dark-art which should only be approached by an expert. Our aim is to provide you with a well-performing website which looks good too - all the while communicating with you in normal plain English. We also strongly believe that every new website for dentists we design should include SEO on all pages as standard.

No Tech-Speak or Jargon

There is nothing more annoying than hearing geek-speak when all you want to hear about is the progress of your new website. Jargon is designed to be baffling and has no place in any conversation with our clients. We give you feedback in simple to understand language, so that you can understand how your website is coming along.

Easily Understood Updates

You will always have direct access to us whenever you have a question about your web design project. We will give you regular updates about the progress of the work on the website. If you have ideas and concepts you want to see in your website, just let us know and we will tell you how it could be achieved and what needs to be done.

No Long-Term Contracts

We do not force clients into long-term web maintenance contracts. You will always have full access to the admin area of the website, but remember a modern website needs to be kept updated and backed-up. If you want to cancel your web maintenance contract with us, all we require is a notice period of 30 days.
